Today we discussed about the second part of the Time Management.
Priorities Work.
There are three ways that we can priorities our work.
- Spent 75% of time to do MUST to do work. This is a really important work in the students life. Lecturer identify that we should spent a very huge time to do our additional reading and work. According to our time log which we discussed in previous lecture necessary work were come under this category.
- Spent 20% of time to do SHOULD to do work. According to time log this is the appropriate work we should do after the necessary work.
- Spent 5% of time to do what you LIKE to do work. This is the lesser work we should do in our daily life. This work should do if it's efficient to our life.
Pareto Principle - The 80-20 Rule
This is the concept founded by Italian economist Vilferdo Pareto in 1906. He identified that twenty percent of the people owned eighty percent of the wealth in his country as reported on About.com 2012. According to that theory in Time Management we can gain that 20% of effort we put in our work can afford 80% of good result.
Then we create a energy circle according to out time log which did on previous day.
Time Wasters.
Self generated and environment issues are the two ways that people waste their time.
Self Generated Issues
- Disorganization - ex: Think that you put your books and other stationary all over the study table. So it's hard you to find a book immediately. This is the disorganization.
- Procrastination - ex: You are going to computer lab to do some task. But you couldn't able to concentrate on work what you are doing. You may interested to check emails, visit to Facebook or listening to music.
- Inability to say No - ex: Your best friend asked you to go shopping with you. If you don't like to go with your friend but you couldn't able to say 'No'.
- Lack of Interest - ex: You have to submit a assignment in next week, but you don't have any interest to complete it quickly and correctly until the last moment.
- Unnecessary Perfectionism - When you are doing in a assignment you want everything to be perfect. You don't like to miss the parts which are difficult to handle. So you don't submit it until you create a perfect document, because of this unnecessary perfectionism you may delay the submission.
- Burn Out - Can not focus on attention or out of effort.
Environment Issue
- Visitors - ex: When visitors come to your home during exam time, you should be able to stay in the room and study.
- Telephone calls - You should avoid unnecessary telephone calls during your study hours.
- Emails and Junk Emails - Don't spent too much time for check emails and junk emails. Avoid unnecessary email.
- Meetings - ex: Waiting for someone.
- Crises - Unavoidable circumstances. ex: Power cuts.
To save your valuable time you should avoid all these self generated and environmental issues.
After this lecturer guided us to do a brain test. Given below is the result of that brain text.

Learning gain of the Lecture
Today I learnt How to create an energy circle according to the time log I made before, how to divide work according to must to do work, should to do work and like to do work. Also what are the time wasters and knowing that time wasters how do we avoid those waste times.
Personal Opinion
Create an energy circle of my daily work. Identified what are the ways that I waste my time. Brain test really helps to identify what kind of a brain which I have.
